Stomach cancer is the 14th most common cause of cancer death in the UK and, even in its early stages, can present with a number of symptoms. Many of these can be red flags and should prompt you to seek medical advice. Stomach cancer symptoms to look out for include:
- Persistent / ongojng heartburn
- Early satiety/fullness
- Tiredness
- Unexplained weight loss
“Some of these symptoms could be mistaken for gastroesophageal reflux, and tiredness might be put down to anaemia.”
While many of these symptoms could relate to acid reflux or other illnesses it is important not to overlook them, especially if they continue for a period of 3 or more weeks. As with many cancers early detection helps to provide the best possible treatment. Other symptoms of stomach cancer can include stomach pain, difficulty swallowing, dark stool and nausea or vomiting.
