In a recent article Dr Angela Rai, Private Harley Street GP, outlines some of the warning signs of bowel cancer. With Bowel cancer being the fourth most common cancer in the UK, as well as the second biggest cancer killer, early detection is vital when it comes to treatment and care.

Some of the warning signs of Bowel cancer can include:

  • Bowel changes or Blood when going to toilet
  • Unexplained tiredness
  • Pain or lump in your stomach
  • Weight loss

“This may because of reduced appetite, but not always, some people lose weight even when they are eating normally,” explains Dr Angela Rai. “This is called cachexia, and the body may not be absorbing all the protein, fat and carbohydrate from the food you eat.”

If you are concerned about bowel cancer or experiencing any of the symptoms above and would like to investigate further then you are advised to get in touch with your GP. At the London General Practice we offer full cancer screening as well as a Trucheck blood test that can help detect multiple cancers.
